Holy Saturday Reflection

Listen--the earth is quiet and the lands are still. Even the birds have ceased singing, not of sadness or despair, but because the Master is asleep. The earth keeps quiet between movements of her symphony, and awaits the moment she will perform her grand crescendo.
The Master indeed sleeps, but He shall rise, and the birds shall sing once again in the splendor of Christ's new morning. The waters of baptism shall flow once more and refresh the deserts of our souls that we've journeyed through for forty days, and the fire of truth shall once more illumine our darkened eyes.
Stay quiet, the Master sleeps, but He shall rise in glory. Indeed, "the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and guide our feet into the way of peace.".
Peace be with you.

I'd like to supply the excerpt that inspired this reflection. This excerpt comes from the Office of Readings for today:
"Something strange is happening--there is a great silence on earth today, a great silence and stillness. The whole earth keeps silent because the King is asleep. The earth trembled and is still because God has fallen asleep in the flesh and He has raised up all who have slept even since the world began.
God has died in the flesh and hell trembles with fear."
